Robinson Oboe Shaper Tip

Eligible for FREE Shipping(Eligible for FREE Shipping)

When Joe Robinson came to us his goal was simple, to make additional copies of his favorite shaper tip. This tip faithfully reproduces his original. It is sold by Westwind with Joe’s permission.

"Ever since our meeting in New York many years ago, I have continued to be impressed by Bob Hubbard's commitment to precisely engineered shaper tips that are virtually indestructible. I especially like the way the ears flow smoothly into the body of the shaper, enabling greater ease of use and a more consistent result."

Joe Robinson

Former Principal Oboe, New York Philharmonic
Distinguished Visiting Professor of Oboe, Lynn University

About Joe Robinson

For twenty-seven years—from June 1978 until September 2005—Joseph Robinson served as Principal Oboe of the New York Philharmonic. Following his famous predecessor Harold Gomberg, he was the last oboist in America to study directly with the legendary Marcel Tabuteau. Like both of them, Joseph Robinson became one of the most distinguished orchestra musicians of his era.

Since his retirement from the New York Philharmonic in September 2005, Joseph Robinson has continued to appear extensively as an oboe soloist, chamber musician, teacher and clinician from Atlanta to Alaska. Performances have included concerti by J. S. Bach; G. F. Handel, J. C. Bach, W. A. Mozart, R. Vaughan-Williams, J. Francaix, and R. Strauss, which he played eight times during the summer of 2007. He also appears often in duo concerti and recital programs with Mary Kay Robinson, his violinist wife.

From 2005 until 2009 Joseph Robinson was Artist in Residence at the Duke University Music Department, where he collaborated frequently with the resident Ciompi Quartet (including a world premiere recording of Robert Ward's Quintet for Oboe and Strings) and organized double reed events every year. He is now Distinguished Visiting Professor of Oboe at Lynn University in Boca Raton, Florida.
